What the report is intended to show

VINinspect lists title, odometer, loss and sales-history categories and provides a sample report. Examine the sample to understand the format, then check what the actual VIN search reveals. A sample's detailed history is an example of possible content, not a promise that another car will have equally detailed records.

Understand the trial before paying

The reviewed pricing page offers a short trial that becomes a monthly membership unless cancelled. It also specifies a daily limit during the trial. Verify the current renewal charge, tax, cancellation deadline and method in your checkout. The introductory payment should not be presented as the complete price of ongoing access.

Compare a package with membership

VINinspect also lists a multi-report package. Compare its total charge with the number of vehicles you actually expect to check. Read credit and access conditions separately from subscription conditions. Choose the offer that fits your use rather than assuming that an unlimited label necessarily offers the lowest total cost.

Use US history in the right context

The advertised US title information can help investigate a vehicle before export, while later events in another country require separate evidence. Ask for the export, import and registration documents and compare their dates with the report. Do not let a detailed early history conceal a recent undocumented period.

Evaluate the vehicle after reading the report

Check mileage entries in sequence and investigate any damage or salvage flags before making a commitment. Earlier sales photos can help direct an inspection, but cannot certify repair quality. Verify the vehicle's current condition and identity independently and retain the seller's supporting records with your purchase documentation.

Limits to keep in mind

  • An introductory trial can renew as a paid monthly membership
  • Daily trial usage limits apply
  • Advertised categories do not guarantee a populated record
