Our evidence standard
We research the provider’s current product information, help pages, sample reports and terms where available. We separate those published claims from records actually obtained for a vehicle. The local edition does not claim that we bought and tested all ten services; a source-review date is not the date of a hands-on test.
The criteria we use
- Geographical relevance: countries and periods for which records may exist.
- Record types: decoding, title, inspection, service, damage and mileage are distinct.
- Purchase terms: total price, bundle size, access, renewal and refund conditions.
- Interpretability: dated entries, source limitations and a useful sample report.
- Suitability: the gap the buyer is trying to fill in the vehicle’s documentary history.
How order and compensation work
The homepage retains the site’s existing commercial provider order to preserve its structure. It is not a numerical performance ranking. Affiliate compensation may affect placement. We have removed unverified star ratings and review counts; a commercial relationship does not establish a provider’s data quality for a particular VIN.
Dates and corrections
A page’s editorial review date changes when its substantive guidance is reviewed. It does not advance automatically each month. Original publication dates are retained where available. Offers and availability can change sooner than an article, so the current provider checkout and terms should be read before payment.
What we will not infer
A missing accident entry is not proof of an accident-free car. A decoded model is not proof of identity or present condition. A provider’s source count does not establish coverage of every vehicle. Recall, title, finance and inspection services each have their own scope.
How to use our recommendation
Start with your vehicle’s registration countries and the question you need answered. Read the relevant official country sources and provider limitations, verify the vehicle identity and obtain a suitable independent inspection. Treat our comparison as a research aid rather than a condition certificate.
