VinAudit review

VinAudit offers US vehicle history reports and identifies itself as an NMVTIS data provider. Its report guide describes title, salvage, accident, odometer and other records. Consumer purchases, dealer plans and the separate Canadian service should be evaluated as distinct products.

What the title history can tell you

VinAudit's report guide explains title entries, title brands and salvage-related records. Read the issuing state and date for each entry and compare them with the physical title and registration documents. Changes between jurisdictions deserve attention when they leave the vehicle's earlier status unclear.

Accident records and supplementary history

The provider describes accident and sales records in addition to core title information. Its guide explicitly warns that the absence of an accident match does not prove an accident-free history. Use any dated record to request further evidence, and keep a separate list of periods that remain undocumented.

Consumer price versus business plans

Check the current consumer checkout for the report count, full total and access terms. VinAudit also offers a dealer program with a different billing structure, so a business rate should not be described as the price of a one-off consumer report. This review does not reuse dated promotional price comparisons.

Use the correct country service

The US homepage links to a separate Canadian service. Identify where the vehicle was registered and choose the relevant product. For a car that crossed the border or was exported elsewhere, compare the available records with import papers and obtain additional evidence for any country or period missing from the timeline.

Turn history into specific checks

Ask the seller to explain any branded title, unusual mileage entry or unexplained sale. Check the relevant documents and arrange an inspection directed at the concerns found. The report helps decide what to investigate; it does not certify roadworthiness, repair quality or the car's present mechanical state.

Limits to keep in mind

  • A missing accident record does not establish an accident-free car
  • Consumer and dealer pricing are different
  • Source reporting and record availability vary
