Read beyond the AutoCheck Score
AutoCheck presents its proprietary score as a way to compare similar vehicles. Use it to organize your shortlist, then inspect the individual events behind each result. A higher score does not answer whether a particular repair was done well or whether the car currently needs expensive maintenance.
Auction information and vehicle context
AutoCheck's product page emphasizes auction data among its sources. When auction-related entries appear, compare their dates and descriptions with the seller's account and later title events. Ask for supporting paperwork where an announcement affects your decision; a short entry should start a conversation rather than end the investigation.
Single reports and multi-car access
The reviewed consumer purchase page lists a single report and a package for several vehicles with a defined access period, advertised as a one-time fee. Confirm today's total, permitted report count and access duration before buying. Separate consumer offers from business products and do not carry over old comparison-table prices.
Run date and later updates
AutoCheck's dashboard notes that records reflect events reported as of the run date and can change over time. Check the date on any report supplied by a seller. If the report is old, clarify how you will obtain a current view before relying on it for a purchase.
A useful comparison workflow
Compare vehicles of similar age and purpose, then list the actual differences in their histories. Check maintenance evidence and obtain an inspection for the car you prefer. If a score and your physical observations seem inconsistent, investigate the records and condition instead of letting the score override the evidence.
Limits to keep in mind
- A score does not assess present mechanical condition
- Report access and updates have time limits
- Newly reported events can change the report
