Details to have ready
- VIN / broj šasije
- Serbian registration certificate
- Foreign registration documents and import-testing evidence where applicable
Confirm the imported-vehicle process
Agencija za bezbednost saobraćaja provides an official route for examination of imported used vehicles. Confirm the procedure and required documents directly for the vehicle concerned, rather than assuming a commercial VIN report replaces import or conformity checks.
Ask for the testing evidence
Request the relevant import-examination documentation and match the identifying information with the car and original registration papers. If any number or vehicle specification differs, resolve it with the responsible authority or testing organisation before purchase.
Build the pre-Serbia history
Ask for foreign technical-inspection documents, registration records and dated service invoices. These may explain the years before Serbian registration. Arrange a physical inspection to assess repairs and current condition; import paperwork and mechanical condition answer different questions.
Limits to keep in mind
- This guide does not claim a public Serbian database provides a complete VIN accident, theft or odometer history.
- An import examination should not be read as proof of a complete maintenance history.
Commercial reports and an independent inspection
Compare a provider’s coverage with the periods and countries missing from your documents. A commercial report may add evidence, but it does not replace an official check where one is needed or an inspection of the actual vehicle. Read provider reviews before choosing.
