Details to have ready
- VIN
- Polish registration number
- Date of first registration
Request all three lookup identifiers
The government Historia Pojazdu guidance asks for the registration number, VIN and date of first registration. Obtain these from the seller’s documents and compare them with the car. A VIN alone is not the standard lookup described by this service.
Use CEPiK records as a timeline
Review the history returned from the central vehicle register and compare inspection and mileage observations with the service paperwork. Check the exact dates and scope of the returned report rather than assuming it covers the whole life of the car.
Follow the pre-import history
For a car first registered abroad, ask for the earlier registration and inspection documents. Any foreign information displayed should be checked for its stated sources and scope. Independently inspect the vehicle if the Polish timeline starts long after manufacture.
Limits to keep in mind
- A government register result does not establish every accident, repair or ownership fact.
- Foreign-data availability must be assessed for the individual result.
Commercial reports and an independent inspection
Compare a provider’s coverage with the periods and countries missing from your documents. A commercial report may add evidence, but it does not replace an official check where one is needed or an inspection of the actual vehicle. Read provider reviews before choosing.
