Details to have ready
- VIN
- Estonian registration number
- Registration certificate
Use the Transport Administration service
Transpordiamet links vehicle-background checks through its official e-services. Enter the identifiers requested there and compare the returned vehicle details with the registration certificate. Avoid assuming that a commercial report is the only way to check local administrative information.
Compare documents and physical identity
Follow the authority’s used-vehicle buyer guidance and compare the VIN on the body with the documents. Ask the seller for inspection reports and repair invoices. Investigate inconsistencies before committing to a transfer.
Trace imported vehicles separately
For a vehicle imported into Estonia, ask for the original foreign registration and technical-inspection documents. The Estonian portion of its record may not explain earlier use abroad. Review the date and country attached to every history entry.
Limits to keep in mind
- This guide does not promise that all accidents or foreign mileage appear in the national service.
- No vehicle-specific search or authenticated transaction was performed.
Commercial reports and an independent inspection
Compare a provider’s coverage with the periods and countries missing from your documents. A commercial report may add evidence, but it does not replace an official check where one is needed or an inspection of the actual vehicle. Read provider reviews before choosing.
